The 2014 Archery Summit Estate is an elegant, deeply toned Pinot noir, with a seductive aroma, melding together notes of wilted red rose petal, rich, new leather and dried blueberry. The palate is plush and succulent, a provocative fusion of Amarena cherry, red currant and Madagascar vanilla. It’s juicy acidity and sophisticated tannins beg for a rich, hearty dish and an evening of celebration, while the sumptuous, lingering finish will leave you dreaming of another glass long after the bottle is gone.
Archery Summit Estate is our home vineyard that surrounds our winery in the Dundee Hills AVA. This 16 acre vineyard was planted in 1994 just after Archery Summit’s inception and is an extension of our efforts to establish the best combinations of vines and rootstocks with soil and mesoclimate. The site exemplifies our continued pursuit to craft America’s premier Pinot Noir.
Fruit for the 2014 Archery Summit Estate was hand picked September 14th through 15th. The fruit
was hand sorted and soaked cold for six to ten days, after which native yeast fermentation was allowed
to proceed under temperature-controlled conditions in both stainless steel and wooden open top
fermentors. During primary fermentation, tanks were punched down up to two times per day. After
limited post-fermentation maceration, the wine was sent via gravity to 54% new French oak barrels
and aged for 9 months, then the wine was racked and transferred to older barrels for four months of
additional barrel aging.
