Summer 2025 A-List Wine Club Newsletter
Our Estate Team discusses the A-List new releases, and what makes them so unique.
Estate Update
The vineyards are alive with color and movement. As veraison begins, green clusters shift into shades of violet and deep burgundy, signaling the next stage of the season. The buzz of bees, the rustle of leaves in the afternoon breeze, and the warmth rising from volcanic soils make this a time of growth and abundance.
This year also brings a milestone for our region: the 20th anniversary of the Dundee Hills AVA. As the first appellation established in the Willamette Valley, it remains at the heart of Oregon Pinot Noir. Its red Jory soils and cooling marine breezes continue to shape wines of elegance and depth, qualities we have proudly championed at Archery Summit for three decades.
Summer may be at its peak, but the season is already turning toward harvest. Soon, the cellar will once again fill with the aromas of fermenting Pinot Noir. This year is significant as we prepare for Winemaker Kim Abrahams’ first harvest with Archery Summit, a new chapter in our 30-year history. Until then, we savor these long evenings, the beauty of the vines in transition, and the opportunity to share our work with you.
Summer Club Release
This summer, we are pleased to reveal two estate Pinot Noirs that reflect the character and depth of the Dundee Hills. The 2023 Arcus Vineyard Pinot Noir, from our historic vineyard planted in 1973, offers aromas of blackberry, red currant, and crushed peppercorn layered with thyme and allspice from whole-cluster fermentation. On the palate, silky cherry and raspberry are framed by fine tannins, leading to a juicy yet savory finish. This wine will cellar beautifully through 2034, with a prime drinking window from 2026 to 2029, and pairs naturally with herb-roasted chicken in a tarragon cream sauce.
The 2023 Archer’s Crest Pinot Noir, sourced from the lower portion of Red Hills Vineyard, reveals a different expression of this beloved site. Aromas of red cherry, violet, and subtle spice open into juicy raspberry and cherry, supported by soft, earthy tannins. Bright acidity carries a lingering finish of clove and nutmeg, making the wine generous and expressive. Enjoy it now alongside herb-crusted porchetta or cellar for up to ten years.
