Lightly textured with juicy palate impressions, our 2016 Archer’s Edge Pinot Noir boasts candied fruit
flavors of cherry, raspberry and pomegranate. Its fragrant spice notes lean toward cocoa powder and
red velvet cake with subtle earth nuances accentuated by the interplay between clonal selections and
the basalt soils in which the fruit is grown. This lovely, south-facing slope represents a culmination of
insight gained from over two decades of winegrowing.
Relatively young compared to our other estate vineyards, Archer’s Edge is a small parcel nestled
between Renegade Ridge and Summit Vineyards. It represents a culmination of insight gained from
two decades of winegrowing, and as we continue to nurture its growth we look forward to witnessing
the development of its distinctive voice. Planted to Pommard and Dijon clones, the grapes from this
vineyard demonstrate youthful, fresh fruit qualities with bright red tones and a distinct floral note on
Fruit for the 2016 vintage was hand picked from September 12th to 15th. The fruit was hand sorted
and soaked cold for five to ten days, after which native yeast fermentation was allowed to proceed under
temperature-controlled conditions in stainless steel open top fermentors. During primary fermentation,
tanks were punched down up to three times per day. After limited post-fermentation maceration, the
wine was sent via gravity to 52% new French oak barrels and aged for 7 months prior to bottling.
