Complex, fresh and inviting, this wine opens with enticing aromas of satsuma orange peel, hoisin sauce
and cardamom, followed by spring floral notes of gardenia and cherry blossom. The palate is elegant
and refined and portrays qualities of citrus oil and succulent passion fruit, supported by suggestions of
cinnamon stick and crystallized lavender. This is an exquisitely balanced, mouthwatering wine, and its
melody of flavors sing to the palate, showcasing the distinctive terroir. Opulent and bright the whole way
through, this generous wine finishes long with juicy acidity and fine grained tannins.
Renegade Ridge Estate is a 12-acre vineyard contiguous to our Archery Summit Estate vineyard in the
Dundee Hills. Soils are basaltic Jory and the vines are planted between 315 and 480 feet in elevation.
On this, our only predominately east facing slope, Dijon clones are matched to select rootstocks and
exhibit pronounced aromas, bright flavors and elegant texture. This vineyard has been farmed utilizing
biodynamic principles and practices since March 2004.
Fruit for the 2014 Renegade Ridge Estate was hand picked between September 14th and 17th. The fruit
was hand sorted and soaked cold for six to ten days, after which native yeast fermentation was allowed
to proceed under temperature-controlled conditions in both stainless steel and wooden open top
fermentors. During primary fermentation, tanks were punched down up to two times per day. After
limited post-fermentation maceration, the wine was sent via gravity to 50% new French oak barrels and
aged for nine months prior to bottling.
