SUMMER 2010 WINES
2009 Ab Ovo Pinot Gris
TASTING NOTES: Beautiful straw in color, this wine has great volume both aromatically and on the palate. The bouquet is inviting and fresh with notes of lemon curd, orange marmalade and Satsuma mandarin. There are tropical notes of coconut, mango and galangal as well as floral jasmine, confectionary gumdrop and a flinty minerality. In the mouth this wine is rich and round and incredibly succulent, tethered by a lively acidity that keeps the wine dancing as it moves through the palate. The finish is long and neat, ending in a citrusy freshness reminiscent of key lime pie.
2009 Vireton Rosé
TASTING NOTES: Our 2009 Vireton Rosé opens with lifted aromas of spiced red cherry, passionfruit and rose petal, red currants, blue raspberry and a mineral-like note of wet stone. On the palate this wine is creamy and bright, delicate and lively. The wine is both succulent and long and leaves one with the impression of the freshness of fruit at harvest time. Our Vireton Rosé is a wine devoid of complication, one that is light and fruity and ingratiates us to the potential brightness of spring and summer.
2008 Premier Cuvée
TASTING NOTES: The 2008 Premier Cuvée opens with an intense perfume of Oregon black caps, fresh blueberries, confectionary violet and nag champa incense. This is a complex wine of many layers from floral rose water and lilac, to spicy allspice and mace, marzipan, black cherry, sarsaparilla and blackstrap molasses. The palate is dense and intense with hints of dark chocolate brownie, gingersnap and earthy peat surrounding a vibrant dark cherry core. Succulent, expressive and enticing, this wine is beginning to reveal itself now but may benefit from 3 to 8 years of proper cellaring.
