Wine Spectator July 31, 2006
92 points Firm, with a lovely core of plum and cherry fruit, wrapped in grippy tannins that are reminiscent of Nebbiolo, with the fruit and earthy spice flavors persisting on the beautifully focused and long finish. Best from 2008 through 2013.
The Wine News September 2006
91 points Quite pungent aromas of plum, cedar, sweet smoke and iodine. Tooth-sticking flavors of red berries, cherry, earth and cinnamon. Long, woodsy finish concludes sweetly.
Northwest Palate July/August 2006
Highly Recommended Assertive toasty aromas of brambly black fruits and fresh earth promise a boldness that is delivered on the palate, where intense wild berry juiciness is combined with a sweet graham toastiness for a rich yet balanced experience. All the bigness of a 2003, but still pure Pinot. Serve with rosemary lamb chop.
Vinfolio January 2006
93 points Bright garnet in color with a nose suggesting round softness; hints of clove and dark cherry. The palate has flavors of smooth black cheery, red raspberry, clove and pie spice. Nice elegance along with some power. Drink 2006-2013.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar May/June 2006
89 points Medium ruby color. Intensely spiced nose of dark berries, cherry jam, licorice and fruitcake. Very sweet and lush, with an almost confectionery display of cherry and cassis fruit along with plenty of exotic oak spice. Rich, supple and sweet through the finish, which is marked by big but nicely buffered tannins.
